Cluj University Press has as main activity publishing books and periodicals of the University, conducting other specific works for the benefit of the University. From the beginning, Cluj University Press was targeted on teachers, students and the community of scientists who ensure, through their work, reputation for academic research in the country and worldwide. Currently, Cluj University Press publishes works in both classical and electronic format (www.editura.ubbcluj.ro/ebooks).

Most requested books in a university town as Cluj-Napoca are those with university courses structure from the specific historiographical ideologies and mentalities in the field and study of imagination, but also ancient history, medieval and modern Orthodox and Catholic theology works, to books of sociology, psychology, pedagogy, geography, foreign languages, mathematics / computer etc. There is a large number general interest and general culture books addressing to large public. Current graphic quality of Cluj University Press published works is very good and publishing policy is to find funding - public or private - so the selling price of a work is as accessible as possible.

Cluj University Press develops important projects with:
Apáczai Foundation and Cluj Hungarians University Foundation;
National Authority for Scientific Research;
National Cultural Fund Administration;
and also has projects co-financed by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture, co-editing collaboration with UNESCO and Max Weber Publishing Foundation.

Cluj University Press has no legal personality and operates self-financing.
