This study presents a distinct social history regarding the existence of modern and contemporary Romania, focusing on the time span of a century. It is not a metaphor or a story, but pure reality presented through the analysis and the synthetic representations of all the architectural trans formations that transpired in the life of a century-old building. It is a case study that evokes the values of the local bourgeois capitalist society and the mutilation they endured during Communism. It highlights the oppression of private life due to the deprivation of privacy and decent living conditions, the permutations betweensingle owner – bourgeois tenant – comrade tenant – multiple owners, respectively the path from “tenant” to “owner” (housing as a process and mindset, before, during, and after Communism) , in the same architectural context – namely a revenue house that actually changed a single owner on its way to “privatisation”.
