When the European economies were showing the first signs of economic recovery, after the COVID-19 pandemic, Russia launched a war of aggression against Ukraine, plunging the continent into the worst energy crisis since the 1970s, leading to a rise in prices and food insecurity around the world. Many voices even announced the possibility of a Third World War.
