Behavioral Economics and Public Health: Policy, Ethics, and Digital Implementation

Authors

Oana Maria BLAGA

Synopsis

This book draws primarily from unpublished chapters of my doctoral dissertation – “Developing public health policies: Behavioral economics theories and experiments” - completed at Babeș- Bolyai University between 2014 and 2018. My doctoral research explored the intersection of behavioral economics, public health policy, and ethical considerations in applying behavioral insights to health-related decision-making. I've brought these chapters together because they still speak to pressing issues in how we develop and implement public health policies today, especially as digital health tools gain traction. The fundamental concepts from my academic work haven't changed, but I've refreshed the material with new findings and expanded the discussion to show how behavioral economics can shape better public health approaches— from policy design to digital interventions.
